In Guilin—long celebrated as a city where “its landscapes are the finest under heaven”—a new benchmark seamlessly blending natural scenery with modern sport has quietly emerged: the Pickleball Courts at Guilin Shanshui Sports Center. Delivered by professional sports court system provider UHS, the project has become a widely recognized landmark amid the pickleball boom of 2025.

Located in the core area of one of Guilin’s renowned scenic parks, the courts are surrounded by iconic karst peaks and the Lijiang River system, visually echoing famous landmarks such as Elephant Trunk Hill and Diecai Hill. From the outset, the design team embraced a philosophy of “ecology first, sport integrated into the landscape.” Unlike conventional urban sports facilities defined by high fences and rigid concrete structures, the project preserves the site’s natural topography as much as possible, allowing each court to appear as a vibrant accent embedded within a living landscape painting.

The courts are finished with UHS Toplus® water-based eco-friendly acrylic sports surfacing, selected as the core playing surface. This material is particularly well suited to Guilin’s humid and rainy climate, offering excellent weather resistance, rapid drainage, and superior slip resistance. Even after the city’s characteristic rainfalls, the courts dry quickly and return to safe playing conditions. Built to standard pickleball dimensions (13.41 m × 6.10 m) in strict compliance with international regulations, the venue is equipped with professional shock-absorbing net post systems and high-transparency sun-shading structures—meeting competitive standards while enhancing the leisure experience for visitors.

In November 2025, the venue reached a defining moment when it was selected as one of the sub-venues for the “Li-Ning Cup” China Pickleball Tour Finals. Players competed amid green mountains and clear waters, with layered peaks and blue skies forming a natural backdrop. Many domestic and international athletes remarked after their matches, “Playing here feels like breathing together with Guilin’s landscape.” Surrounding amenities include viewing platforms, wooden boardwalks, and mobile coffee stations, allowing spectators and accompanying family members to fully immerse themselves in a new cultural tourism concept—“traveling with the tournament.”

According to statistics, nearly 300 pickleball courts have now been built across Guilin. Among them, the Shanshui Sports Center pickleball courts stand out for their exceptional integration of scenery and professional quality, becoming a model for combining pickleball development with nationwide fitness initiatives. Beyond serving elite competitions, the venue attracts families, seniors, and young professionals alike. Many beginners note that pickleball is “easy to pick up in one minute and ready to play in three,” and playing here adds a poetic dimension—“as if moving within a landscape painting.”

Through these pickleball court projects, UHS engages in a dialogue between technology and nature, activates cultural tourism through sporting vitality, and writes a new chapter for Guilin’s evolution—from admiring landscapes to moving within them. Between karst peaks and clear waters, this venue has become a vivid bridge connecting healthy lifestyles with the city’s enduring charm.
